What is eternal life, Brian?

To the contrary of all your errors is: "he who hears My word and believes Him
who sent Me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment but has passed out
of death into life"
Jn 5:24.

2 Thes 1:8-9's "obey the gospel" IS faith. Faith into the Lord is the this
obedience. As in all Paul's approaches to make converts, to begin the churches.

"Jesus Christ our Lord through whom we have received grace and apostleship unto
the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles on behalf of His name"
Rm 1:5.
"Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel, that is, the
proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which
has been kept in silence in the times of the ages but has now been manifested,
and through the prophetic writings, according to the command of the eternal God,
has been made known to all the Gentiles for the obedience of faith"
16:26.
"But they have not all obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says Who has believed
our report?"
10:16.

Matthew 25:31-46 is not about Christians. It's not about people who even knew
they were helping Christ Himself. It's not about now, nor about helping the poor
in general. It's about the scenario that arises in the end times, during
Antichrist's reign, when he is persecuting the saints left behind. And about the
nations which enter into the Millenium vs those which don't. As subjects.

Jn 5:29 states "...those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and
those who have practiced evil, to the resurrection of judgment." This is not
merely 'after death.' This is after resurrection. There are these two distinct
and separate general resurrections. One of the saved, one of the lost. The two
are not mishmashed or confused. Like Brian's teaching. And the "doing good" here
follows the permanent receipt of eternal life and salvation from eternal
judgment in 5:21-26, by faith. By faith alone.

There is no 'losing of justification' (Ac 13:39) through sin. Brian illustrates
his ignorance of God, God's divine begetting, the eternal life, the purpose of
God, and the theme of the Scriptures.

Heb 10:26-27 refers to temporary punishment (perhaps as much as 1000 years in
length) of Christians. Since Christians (Jewish Christians in particular) is
what Hebrews is about. Matching Paul's teaching and warning in 1 Cor 3. Brian
may try to address the rest of Heb 10 if he likes. So as not to ignore it. Not
to ignore the direct context. The judgment in Hebrews 10 is not the
"resurrection of judgment," for the nonchristians, in Jn 5:29. As Heb 10:30
refers to the Lord's judgment of HIS PEOPLE. The willful sin in 10:26 is to
return to Judaism's rites. In particular its animal sacrifices and religon.
Which was what the Hebrew Christians were tending to do. As also recorded in the
book of Acts. The sacrifice for sins that no longer remains, in 10:26, is as
already stated: the done-away-with animal sacrifices of Judaism. "It is
impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins" 10:4. "He takes
away the first that He may establish the second" 10:9. "This One, having offered
one sacrifice for sins, sat down forever on the right hand of God" 10:12. "This
is the covenant which I will covenant with them after those days, says the Lord.
I will impart My laws upon their hearts, and upon their mind I will inscribe
them. And their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall by no means remember
anymore. Now where forgiveness of these is, THERE IS NO LONGER AN OFFERING FOR
SIN" 10:16-18.

Lastly, there is no such thing as Catholicism's silly 'mortal sin.' ALL sins and
sin are 'mortal' by definition. The wages of sin is death. The physical
mortality that may occur, per 1 Jn 5:16-17, and which did occur to believers
like Ananias and Sapphira in Ac 5, and almost occurred to the believer Simon in
Ac 8:13, 18-25, is Not the "second death." Is not eternal death and eternal
judgment or condemnation. But rather only physical death. As the Lord's
discipline of those saints.
